What makes a PDF print-ready?

A print-ready PDF has the correct page size, sufficient image resolution, the color mode requested by the printer, and any bleed and crop marks required for trimming. Confirm the printer’s specifications before export because requirements vary by job and production process.

Turbo PDF Exporter & Compressor brings frame selection, page ordering, print settings, and PDF generation into a Figma workflow.

1. Select and order the pages

Open the plugin and select the parent frames that belong in the document. Check the sequence before exporting. For a multi-page file, use the available sorting options or arrange pages to match the intended reading order.

2. Set bleed and crop marks

Bleed is artwork that extends beyond the final trim edge, helping prevent an unintended white sliver if trimming shifts slightly. Add the bleed amount specified by your print provider and enable crop marks when requested. Do not assume one bleed measurement fits every printer or product.

3. Choose color mode and DPI

Use CMYK when the print provider requests process-color output; use grayscale for monochrome print jobs. RGB is commonly appropriate for screen viewing. Color conversion can change how some colors appear, so review the exported PDF and follow the printer’s guidance.

Choose a DPI setting based on the output size and the printer’s requirements. Higher resolution can improve print detail but may increase file size. Lower settings can be more practical for digital sharing.

4. Review and export

Before sending the PDF, check page order, trim size, bleed, colors, image sharpness, hyperlinks, and typography. Turbo PDF Exporter & Compressor embeds fonts and can preserve functional links. When available, inspect the PDF in a viewer and ask the print provider to confirm any production-specific requirements.

Quick checklist

Confirm the printer’s page size, bleed, crop-mark, color-mode, and resolution requirements. Select and order the correct Figma frames, export, then review the resulting PDF before delivery.
