Why convert JPG to WebP or AVIF?

WebP and AVIF can offer smaller web image files than a comparable JPEG at similar visual quality, though results depend on the image and settings. Smaller downloads can help page performance, but the right format also depends on the browsers and tools in your delivery pipeline.

Select images and choose a conversion

Open Turbo Image Compressor & Exporter in Figma and select the JPEG images you want to prepare. Use the conversion control to choose WebP or AVIF, then set an appropriate compression level.

Compare output before shipping

Export a sample and compare it with the original at the size it will appear in the product. Look for banding, artifacts, or softened details, and compare file sizes. Test the result in the target browser or asset pipeline.

Keep a compatible fallback when needed

If your product must support older systems or tools, confirm their format support and keep a fallback format when necessary. Preserve original assets so you can create alternate versions without repeated quality loss.
