Figma export guide

How to Export Figma Images at 1x, 2x, and 3x

Learn what 1x, 2x, and 3x export scales mean, when to use each one, and how to prepare image assets for different displays.

What do 1x, 2x, and 3x mean?

An export scale multiplies the source dimensions. If a design asset is 100 by 100 pixels at 1x, a 2x export is 200 by 200 pixels and a 3x export is 300 by 300 pixels. The larger files provide more pixels for higher-density displays, but also take more storage and bandwidth.

When should you export each scale?

Use 1x when the asset will be displayed at its design dimensions on a standard-density context or when that is the specific handoff requirement. Use 2x or 3x when a platform or implementation needs additional pixels for high-density screens. Confirm the required scales with your developer or platform guidelines.

Keep dimensions and file size in balance

Higher scales do not automatically improve every image. Export only the sizes the product needs, then choose a suitable format and compression level. For responsive websites, teams may use multiple source sizes so devices do not download unnecessarily large files.

Turbo Image Compressor & Exporter supports multi-scale exports alongside format conversion and compression. Select the assets, choose the required scales and output formats, and export them together. Review file names and dimensions before handing the assets to development.
